Jonas Mekas
Jonas Mekas was born in 1922. A Lithuanian, he was held in displaced persons camps during World War II, before arriving at the port of New York in 1949 as an emigrant. Best known for his diary films such as Walden (1969), and Lost, Lost, Lost (1975), Mekas moved in the same circles as Andy Warhol, John Lennon and Salvador Dali. He works as an artist, filmmaker, and curator.
