Marianne Fürstin zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Sayn
Marianne Fürstin zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Sayn was born in 1919 in Salzburg, Austria, and was the first of the nine children of Baron and Baroness Mayr-Melnhof. She graduated in 1938 and attended the Blocherer School of Arts in Munich. After the death of her husband in 1962, she continued to bring up her five children but when her eldest son, Alexander, finished Harvard Business School and took over the running of the family properties in Sayn, she began fulltime work in her chosen career as a photographer, fine-tuning her considerable abilities by working for a variety of magazines and creating remarkable children’s portraits, often assisting with various charitable causes.
