Michael Schmidt
Michael Schmidt was born in 1945 in Berlin, where he still lives and works. He started working with photography in 1963 when he was a policeman. In 1969 he began teaching photography at the adult education centres in Berlin-Kreuzberg and Neukölln. In 1976 he founded and has since been the head of the Werkstatt für Fotografie at Volkshochschule Kreuzberg. Schmidt has received various prizes and funding for his photographic work which has been shown worldwide in group and solo exhibitions.
