Dayanita Singh
Dayanita Singh was born in New Delhi in 1961. She studied at the National Institute of Design in Ahmedabad and later concentrated on photojournalism and documentary photography at the International Center of Photography in New York, interning with Mary Ellen Mark. Since 1989 she has worked as a photojournalist for Donna, Du, Fortune, Granta, Independent Magazine, India Magazine, Marie Claire, Newsweek, New Yorker, NZZ Magazin, Philadelphia Enquirer, Reportage and Time. Her photos have been exhibited many times, most recently in the National Gallery in the Hamburger Bahnhof, Berlin. Singh’s books include, Myself Mona Ahmed, Privacy and Chairs. She lives in New Delhi.
