Yohji Yamamoto
Yohji Yamamoto is one of the foremost fashion designers working today. He graduated from Bunkafukuso Gakuin school of fashion in 1969. His first womenswear shows in Tokyo, Paris and New York took place in 1977, his first menswear collection was shown in Paris in 1984. Besides designing for his own mainline collections and Y’s, an additional line, Yamamoto has also collaborated with the Pina Bausch Company, the Wagner Opera, the Kanagawa Art Festival Opera, the Opera de Lyon, and filmmakers Wim Wenders and Takeshi Kitano. His career has spanned four decades, and has attracted several awards.
