Lisette Model

Lisette Model (1901-1983), born in Vienna, provides us with a natural link with European photography. In 1926 she moved to Paris where she took up painting and later photography, but it was in New York that Lisette Model had here most productive years with commissions from fashion and photo magazines and even a number of exhibitions. Here she developed a personal style working with portraits of blind people, nightclub artistes and of anonymous and often rather shabbily dressed people that she met on the streets of New York. She also produced portraits of artists and musicians.
