Allan Kaprow

Allan Kaprow (1927–2006) was one of the most progressive artists of the 20th century. He started out as a painter, but soon his work developed from collages and walk-in-environments to happenings, of which he is perceived to be the founder. For the younger generation of artists who are increasingly reengaging with happenings and performance art, Kaprow is an important reference figure.
