Ilya Ehrenburg
The Russian author Ilya Ehrenburg (1891–1967) wrote novels, plays and novellas, often with a leaning towards propaganda. Publication of his novel The Thaw (1954) marked the start of the period of political and cultural liberalisation known by the same name in the Soviet Union after Stalin’s death.
