Douglas Kirkland
Douglas Kirkland was born in Toronto and spent much of his career in New York City before moving to Los Angeles in the 1970s. First an apprentice to Irving Penn, he began his independent career at Look and Life magazines in the 1960s and 1970s. Kirkland famously depicted Marilyn Monroe, has photographed on the sets of more than 100 films, and was named Photographer of the Year by the PhotoImaging, Manufacturers, and Distributing Association in 2002.
