Dirk Alvermann
Dirk Alvermann was born in Dusseldorf in 1937. Early in his career he became an influential political photographer publishing numerous books including Algerien – L’Algérie (1960) and Keine Experimente – Bilder zum Grundgesetz (1961). Throughout the 1960’s he worked as a photographer for magazines including Neue Berliner Illustrierte, Quick, Das Magazin and the photographic agency Magnum. In 1966 he emigrated to East-Berlin where he continued to live and work. Since the publication of his seminal book Ich Liebe Dich in 1979 he has focused on his work as a film maker and an author.
