Jasper Johns

Jasper Johns was born in Augusta, Georgia, in 1930. His first one-person exhibition, held in 1958, catapulted him to immediate success and presented what grew to be iconic Johns motifs: the target, the American flag, the map of the United States, and the beer can. Since that time, his work has ranked him among the few living masters and has been exhibited in prestigious institutions all over the world. Johns lives and works in Connecticut and St. Martin.
