Rock On: The Photographs
by Henry Diltz
Steidl & Partners
One of the pioneers of rock ’n’ roll photography, Henry Diltz has created indelible images of the icons of rock music, including The Beatles, Chuck Berry, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, The Mamas & The Papas, Joni Mitchell, The Monkees, The Rolling Stones, and Neil Young. Diltz was the official photographer at the Woodstock and Monterey Pop festivals, and through the years his work has focused not only on the famous but also on the fashion and culture that has surrounded rock music from its inception. As a close friend of many of his portrait subjects, Diltz shows them in intimate moments at home and on the road, as well as in studios and on stage in live performance.
