James Abbe

James Abbe, born in Alfred, Maine (USA) in 1883, began work as a photographer of famous personalities in the film and theatre world. In the middle of the 1920s he went to Europe, where he began to chronicle radical political change. His photographs appeared in Vogue and Vanity Fair, and later in Vu, London Magazine, and Berliner Illustrierte Zeitung. He returned to the USA in 1937 and worked as a radio announcer. Abbe died in San Francisco in 1973.
