Deborah Turbeville

Deborah Turbeville was born and brought up between Boston, Massachusetts and the rock bound coast of Maine. At the age of 20 she moved to New York City and began working for the avant garde designer Claire McCardell. She later worked as a fashion editor for Harper’s Bazaar and Mademoiselle. With no formal schooling other than the advanced seminars she attended with Richard Avedon and art director Marvin Israel, she launched herself into a career photography. Her work continues to be exhibited in museums and galleries around the world and is published regularly in Italian Vogue, L’uomo Vogue, Casa Vogue and The New York Times Magazine. She has recieved numerous awards including the ICP Infinity Award for Applied Art in Photography (2005). She divides her time between New York, St. Petersburg and her home in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.
